Litigation Legal Assistant
A leading law firm in Pasadena is seeking a highly organized and proactive Litigation Legal Assistant to support its dynamic team. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work both in-office and remotely, providing a balance of flexibility and collaboration. The ideal candidate will have strong insurance defense and medical malpractice experience and thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing a heavy workload.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file court documents in State and Federal Courts, including electronic filings using systems such as CM/ECF and PACER.
- Maintain attorneys’ calendars, docket deadlines, and schedule depositions, hearings, and client meetings.
- Format, proofread, and edit legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with court rules.
- Organize and manage digital and physical case files, utilizing document management systems such as ProLaw.
- Assist with preparing court notices, proof of service, and other case-related documents.
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff, demonstrating a team-oriented approach to achieve excellent results for clients.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word (styles & tables), Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and time entry software.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing work schedules.
- Positive energy, a collaborative attitude, and the flexibility to support team members as needed.
- Knowledge of e-Filing systems, calendaring tools, and legal research databases.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent years of legal assistant experience.
- ABA-approved paralegal certificate is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of law firm experience in insurance defense litigation and medical malpractice.
- Familiarity with California litigation processes and deadlines.
